Will I qualify for a discount?

The Advanced Premium Tax Credit (APTC), a.k.a. "discount" or "subsidy" helps lower your monthly premium costs. Your eligibility and the amount you receive depend on:

1. Household Income – Your estimated modified adjusted gross income (MAGI) for the coverage year must typically be between 100% and 400% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL) to qualify.
2. Household Size – The number of people on your tax return affects your eligibility.
3. Where You Live – Insurance costs vary by county. 
4. Age of Enrollees – Older individuals generally have higher premiums, which can lead to a larger subsidy.
5. Tobacco Use – Tobacco users may face higher premiums, affecting the subsidy calculation.

When you apply, the government estimates your discount based on your estimated income for the year you are applying for coverage.
